“THE BREATH OF GOD”
A day –long retreat at
THE BARN ABBEY
NEW HARMONY, INDIANA
Saturday, June 27, 2009
This retreat on June 27 will explore the various layers of meaning found in Genesis 2:7 - "Then God took dust of the earth and formed a human form and breathed into that form the breath of life, and that form became a living being." What does this Hebrew creation story tell us about our identity as creatures of earth and children of God? What does it suggest about our own breath as a metaphor for our prayer, about the connection between body and spirit, and about the rhythm of work and rest in our lives? Exploration will include movements drawn from hatha yoga and t'ai chi, breathing exercises, walking meditation, circle dances, and movement mantras. This workshop is suitable for people of any age or ability. Wear comfortable clothes in which you can move freely.
The retreat will begin at 8:30am and end at 4:00pm. Lunch will be provided at the Barn Abbey as well as coffee, and other beverages. The cost of the retreat is $30 per person. Some scholarship help is available. Please register for the retreat by June 8. To register call St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church – 812-682-4604.
The Rev. Nancy Roth will preach at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in New Harmony on Sunday, June 28, 2009. Everyone is invited to attend.
